Product announcement: A Kiss For The Petals – Remembering How We Met

On 24 June 2015, St. Michael Girls’ School hosted a livestream on Niconico to promote the release of A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation!, which is due for release on 26 June. During that stream, it was announced that the visual novel Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Deatta Omoide no Koro ni (その花びらにくちづけを 出会った頃の思い出に) featuring Risa and Miya will be officially released in English under the name A Kiss For The Petals – Remembering How We Met.

No further information is available at this time. A formal announcement with full information on its release will be made on 4 July.

White Lily Memorial

On 15 May 2015, St. Michael Girls’ School launched a free short story series titled White Lily Memorial (白百合のメモリアル Shiro Yuri no Memoriaru). The translation by Ralen is hosted on this server as a mirror of the original pages.

The translation is hosted here at http://petalsgarden.axypb.net/trans/newgene/shortstory.html

The series will introduce the characters of A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation! ahead of its release on 26 June. The first stories feature Aya and Ai. As of this post, the first of two currently available chapters has been translated.

Sisterly Guidance

A second short story series promoting A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation! was launched on 12 June 2015. Sisterly Guidance (姉妹のみちびき Shimai no Michibiki) features the students of the main St. Michael campus giving counsel to the students of the annex facility featured in The New Generation. This marks the first proper crossover between the two main series. The translation by Ralen is hosted on this server as a mirror of the original pages.

Along with White Lily Memorial, the series will further elaborate on the characters of A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation! ahead of its release on 26 June. The first story features Aya asking for advice on her sister Ai’s meddling from Mai and Reo. As of this post, the first of two currently available chapters has been translated.

The New Generation! Demo Version

newgene-demo-1 newgene-demo-2

A demo for A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation! was released on 29 May 2015. I have uploaded to MediaFire for the convenience of non-Japanese readers.

As with the demos of previous visual novels, it contains a short portion of the introduction and excerpts of one love scene from each couple’s individual story. As with the visual novels proper, you will need to use a Japanese locale to run it. You can use AppLocale for this purpose; I recommend this modified version of AppLocale.

The New Generation! Opening Movie and Voice Samples

St. Michael Girls’ School published the opening movie for A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation! on 21 May 2015, as well as four voice samples for each character on the character information page.

On 15 May, the full voice cast was revealed:

  • Onohara Hazuki: 田中理々 Tanaka Lili (Twitter: @tanakalili)
  • Suou Manami: 椎那天 Shiina Amane (Twitter: @shiina_amane)
  • Kimishima Aya: 柚木サチ Yuzuki Sachi (Twitter: @yuzukisachi)
  • Kimishima Ai: 椿乃なお Tsubakino Nao (Twitter: @tsubakinonao)
  • Takahata Rina: 綾瀬とまり Ayase Tomari
  • Misawa Nagisa: 三日月一花 Mikazuki Ichika

Tanaka Lili is able to communicate in English. I encourage Twitter users to congratulate her and inform her of the series’ international following.

Tsubakino Nao is a known voice actress for extra roles in past visual novels and is now performing in a lead role, similar to Manazuru Kou, who voices Houraisen Rena and extra characters.

One of the standout moments of this video is at 1:17, which shows Manami’s internet persona “MANA”. It has not been mentioned since the initial reveal inDengeki Hime’s December 2014 issue.

The New Generation! Voice Roles and Theme Song

From 13-28 February, St. Michael Girls’ School held an audition for the roles of Hazuki and Manami in A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation!  On 24 April, the selected actresses were revealed: Hazuki will be played by Tanaka Riri (田中理々, Twitter: @tanakalili), and Manami by Shiina Amane (椎那天, Twitter: @shiina_amane). Rather than traditional voice samples in-character, the voice samples provided in the above link are recorded messages from the two actresses.

Unusually, this casting for the lead roles was done after the release date of 26 June was announced, and rather late in the visual novel’s development. Additionally, the audition was open to all applicants and all ages, but the roles were ultimately awarded to established performers. No information has been provided to clarify these extraordinary circumstances.

In addition to these roles as the primary characters, Riri and Amane perform the visual novel’s opening theme, “New Generation”. This song was produced by Anzu Hana and is the first visual novel theme to not be performed by her. According to her tweets  following the announcement, she was offered this role after unsuccessfully auditioning for a lead role herself. On 1 May, the theme song was uploaded to YouTube.

Hanahira! English translation

A full translation of the visual novel Hanahira! (はなひらっ!) as well as the accompanying light novel Hanahira Side Story! Nagisa’s Rowdy Girls (はなひらSSっ! 渚のかしまし娘たち Hanahira SS! – Nagisa no Kashi Mashi Musume-tachi) has been released by George Henry Shaft on 17 April. These were translated independently and packaged as a single download.

Because these translations were not produced by Petals’ Garden or Yuri Project, support questions and feedback on translation should be posted on the release page at George Henry Shaft’s website.

St. Michael Girls’ School published a character relationship chart for A Kiss For The Petals – The New Generation! on 8 April. It has been translated into English by Seiyuuri and Ralen.

Of note is that Hazuki has links to all other characters, who have only two or three each. This makes it rather clear that she will be the primary point of view character.
