Yurin Yurin Official Website: A Kiss For The Petals – Longing of an Angel (Updated 5 June 2013)

その花びらにくちづけを 天使のあこがれ

The second title announced in January has been revealed: A Kiss For The Petals – Longing of an Angel (その花びらにくちづけを 天使のあこがれ Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Tenshi no Akogare). As noted previously, the art is credited to Aida Takanobu (会田孝信) of Kogado Studio, a visual novel company linked on Yurin Yurin’s website, and the writing credited to Madoka Madoka (円まどか), writer of Kogado Studio’s yuri visual novel White Robe Love Syndrome (白衣性恋愛症候群 Hakuisei Renai Shoukougun). As indicated by the blue coloring of the logo, it is a separate series from the mainline “red label” visual novels and takes place in a separate continuity from the previous titles. Two sequels are planned for release this year. The July 2013 issue of Dengeki Hime revealed characters from them, who also make appearances in this visual novel in minor roles.

A promotional YouTube series titled Chiaki-Ringo Theater has been published on 30 May 2013. Ten episodes are planned, as with previous YouTube series. Unusally, the bulk of the episodes are to be released after the release of the visual novel, as opposed to several weeks in advance.

You can purchase this visual novel from Mangaoh Club, which ships internationally via EMS. The price, including tax, is 2,363 yen. See this guide for instructions for ordering from Mangaoh Club if the Google translation is insufficient and note that you must specify that you are over 18 years of age in your account information before you are allowed to add adult items to your cart.

Update 5 June 2013: This visual novel is available as a download on Gyutto.com as of 31 May 2013. The price is 2,300 yen ($23.01 USD, €17.58 EUR, £15.01 GBP). For instructions on buying from Gyutto, see this post.

A Kiss For The Petals – Chiaki-Ringo Theater Episode 04

Yurin Yurin published the fourth episode of Chiaki-Ringo Theater (ちありん劇場  Chia Rin Gekijou) on 14 June 2013. This blog will refer to the series using the characters’ non-abbreviated names for clarity.

This series will be ten episodes long, as with the previous mini-drama series, although these episodes are very short compared to them. A Kiss For The Petals – Longing of an Angel was released well before this episode was uploaded, so this series will supplement the story rather than promote its release.

A Yuri Project thread has been opened for translation of this series.

Episodes will be collected in this playlist.

The Spanish translation group Soulhunter no fansub has released a full Spanish translation of A Kiss For The Petals – Joined in Love with You, under the title El Beso de los Petalos – Unida a ti por Amor. The translation is based on the current English translation. As noted in the release page, due to limitations in the engine, accented characters are not possible, so some difficulty may arise for native readers. On 13 June, a patch for the remake version was released.

Please visit the release page for more information. The website is in Spanish.

Reo-ppoi Radio Episode 57

YouTube user momoiro koneko has uploaded Reo-ppoi Radio 57 on their channel, which was originally uploaded on Niconico on 8 June 2013. This episode is guest hosted by the voices of Aihara Ringo and Takao Chiaki, Honno Shiori and Ichinose Koko. This marks the first instance in which characters from both continuities have interacted with each other. A pre-show was released the week prior.

The images from this episode are attached below.

smile-1.mp4_snapshot_02.08_[2013.06.09_14.07.52] smile-1.mp4_snapshot_02.23_[2013.06.09_14.08.08] smile-1.mp4_snapshot_02.35_[2013.06.09_14.08.20] smile-1.mp4_snapshot_03.07_[2013.06.09_14.08.52] smile-1.mp4_snapshot_03.39_[2013.06.09_14.10.02] smile-1.mp4_snapshot_04.05_[2013.06.09_14.10.50] smile-1.mp4_snapshot_06.12_[2013.06.09_14.11.30]

The episode opens with a discussion of Girls Love Festival 9, which took place on 26 May. The first four images above show a sampling of the merchandise sold there. Seen in the third image above is a copy of Amanda and Yuri Landim’s Christmas doujinshi. Petals’ Garden would like to congratulate them for this official recognition of their work.

Featured at 19:30 is “Racing Pulse” (脈拍異常 Myakuhaku Ijou), the theme song for the next blue label visual novel, as of yet unnamed. It is an arrangement of “Darling Gonna…”, the theme song of Longing of an Angel. Anzu Hana performs once again, but with her natural voice, which is dissimilar from Reo’s (used in “Darling Gonna…”) and closer to Satsuki’s (her character in the blue label). I’ve uploaded it separately for convenience.

Let’s Study Global Yuri~n Yuri~n is not featured in this episode, but you can send in yuri-related phrases in your native tongue to reoppoi_radiofuguriya.sakura.ne.jp (replacing the ★ with @) with the subject line 百合っぽいセリフ (English), with the language of the line you’re submitting changed accordingly. As for what constitutes a yuri-related phrase, no criteria was given. Simply use your own judgment as to what should be submitted.

Partial Translation of Interview with Sonohana Producer from Dengeki Hime July 2013 (Updated 5 June 2013)

136989089235513220309_b-13-5-30-6

The above photograph is one of three photos of Dengeki Hime‘s July 2013 issue that surfaced on 31 May 2013 regarding A Kiss For The Petals – Snow White’s Knight. The source of these photographs is unknown. This page includes an interview with the producer of A Kiss For The Petals, “Mr. Mi Kara Deta Saba” (身から出た鯖氏 Mi Kara Deta Saba-shi). It has been transcribed in part by Kuma Ichigo and translated by Ralen, but unfortunately, several parts of it are illegible in the photo. Although the translation is incomplete, it still reveals further information on the new release. If you have a clearer photograph or scan, please submit it, either in a comment or by e-mail. It is unlikely that this interview will be reproduced in Yurin Yurin’s website.

Update 5 June 2013: The post by submarine9 mistranscribed the name of the producer as “Mi Kara Deta Sabi”, an idiom meaning “getting what one deserves”, or “rust coming from oneself” literally. Ralen unwittingly used this incorrect spelling to translate the interview, which has been reverted below. The correct spelling, “Mi Kara Deta Saba”, appears to be a play on the idiom and means literally “mackerel coming from oneself”. There doesn’t appear to be a sensible translation for it as an alias, so the visual novel translation patches simply transcribe the name in the credits.

Interview with the Producer, Mr. Mi Kara Deta Saba

Taking the helm as Producer of Yurin Yurin’s releases, Mr. Mi Kara Deta Saba… [illegible] …starting with this work’s contents and highlights, we discuss various… [illegible]

With this being your second full price release following Maidens of Michael, tell us about the enthusiasm behind this project.

With Maidens of Michael, we were able to show interactions between various couples that we couldn’t do in a doujin title, so it was really fun for us as staff, and really exciting. We had the users clamoring for a sequel… and so we suddenly found ourselves moving forward with this release (sweat).

If you could sum up the relationship between these two new characters in one sentence, what would it be?

It would have to be “A Princess and Knight.” Sayuki is referred to as the Second Coming of the Perfect Lady, and she’s a girl who’s practically a princess in a family descended from samurai. In contrast, Rikka is an athletic girl, her disposition is such that she can’t help but intervene when she sees someone in trouble, and she’s referred to as “Sir Knight.” But in actuality, Rikka is deeply troubled… Her feelings for Sayuki are very complicated.

Will any characters who have appeared in the series so far but who have not been announced here be appearing in this release?

Shizuku and Eris, along with Takako and Runa, and even Rena will make an appearance, doing whatever they can to encourage the love between Rikka and Sayuki. There’s also a summer beach scene in this one, where we get to see Eris and the others in swimsuits, so there’s that to look forward to. Along with the appearance of this new pair… [illegible] …probably aren’t many scenes where… [perhaps: “not many scenes where Eris and the others appear”].

[The gist of this final question appears to be “Please give a parting message for the readers.”]

Of course, both series have lots of mushy stuff, with an emphasis placed on the couples’ friendships and interactions.

Maidens of Michael was a story about frantically working events, while this time it’s a story about… [the critical part is missing!]

Don’t you want a little peek at these girls’ [illegible] full of yuri goodness?

submarine9 Post Translation for Dengeki Hime July 2013 Issue (Updated 5 June 2013)

This is a translation of the post by submarine9 that included photographs of the Dengeki Hime with information on A Kiss For The Petals – Snow White’s Knight. It was translated by Ralen. Please keep in mind that speculation after the final photograph is that of the author of the post. The information below may be updated or invalidated after Yurin Yurin launches the full website for Snow White’s Knight. Nevertheless, I must make several retractions to the information post on this blog in light of this translation, specifically the tentative translation of the title and the name of one of the characters.

A Kiss For The Petals – Snow White’s Knight, scheduled for release in fall 2013.

Azumi Risa and her girlfriend Ayase Miya have moved on to their second year of school.

One day, a meeting is held by all those who were voted as the school’s Best Couples, and Risa and company attend.

Once there, Risa is suddenly embraced by the first year student Shinozaki Rikka!

Shinozaki Rikka
38f8c0e0 82221305

A first-year student who was accepted into the escalator school of St. Michael’s through taking outside entrance exams.

Shortly after enrolling, she set a new national record in the 100 meter dash and became an instant celebrity on campus.

She has a kind disposition, and has to intervene when she sees someone in trouble.  Because of that tendency, she’s earned the nickname, “Sir Knight” (騎士様 kishi-sama).

She serves as vice-representative of her class, and was chosen along with class representative Sayuki as one of the academy’s Best Couples.

Shirakawa Sayuki

A classmate of Rikka’s.  Serving as class representative, she lives with her grandfather, who is apparently descended from samurai who once defended a castle.

Her name combined with her noble lineage has earned her the nickname “Snow White” (白雪姫 shirayuki hime, lit. Snow White).

Additionally, being both beautiful and brilliant, a scholar and an athlete, she’s been touted by many as the second coming of “The Perfect Lady”.

In no time at all after her enrollment, these abilities result in her being entrusted with the role of Chairman of the Environmental Improvement Committee, which is essentially the academy’s student council.

There’s also an image of Nanami, Yuuna, Kaede, Sara, Mai, and Reo in their summer uniforms.

“Shizuku and Eris, along with Takako and Runa, and even Rena make an appearance, doing whatever they can to encourage the love between Rikka and Sayuki.”

(From an interview with producer Mr. Mi Kara Deta Saba.)

[Update 5 June 2013: The post by submarine9 mistranscribed the name of the producer as "Mi Kara Deta Sabi", rather than "Mi Kara Deta Saba". See the translated interview from this issue for more information.]

A Kiss For The Petals – Nursing School Series 2 (tentative) Scheduled for release in Summer 2013.

fab89b8cbe3dd14b

This Ishigawa Satsuki character appears to be voiced by Reo-ppoi Radio’s Anzu Hana-san.
This aloof, boyish character gives off an image that’s surprisingly different from Reo.

Below are details about these two upcoming games from Yurin Yurin.

Snow White’s Knight appears to take place after Risa and Miya have moved on to their second year, but is Risa the protagonist here?  The title would indicate Rikka is the protagonist, but reading the introduction it sounds like it’s Risa.

It may be adopting a style similar to Maidens of Michael, setting Risa and Miya as the main couple, while also allowing us a glimpse of successive couples.

Nursing School Series 2 (tentative), which is presumably a sequel to Longing of an Angel, introduces the first boyish character in the SonoHana series, and indicates the pair has been living as roommates in the school dorms.

Seeing the series releases announced in such a grand fashion makes me truly happy.  They must be doing very well in sales.  I intend to continue my support of this game series.

Reo-ppoi Radio Episode 56

YouTube user momoiro koneko has uploaded Reo-ppoi Radio 56 on their channel, which was originally uploaded on Niconico on 25 May 2013. A pre-show was released the week prior.

The images from this episode are attached below.

At 16:05, Takanashi Konoko and Uchino Pochi, the voices of Nanami and Yuuna, make appearances to promote Maidens of Michael. With this, all main performers have made an appearance on Reo-ppoi Radio.

At 19:28, a new segment was introduced to discuss Yurin Yurin’s standings in the Moe Game Awards. As of this writing, Lovers of the Atelier is at #9, and Maidens of Michael is #14. Anzu Hana also made the suggestion to listeners to propose a moe game idea by changing the premise of the visual novel currently ranked #1, which features a heterosexual couple, into a yuri story. She also explained her own role in Yurin Yurin’s next products. Currently, she voices two main characters (Reo and Satsuki, a protagonist in the sequel to Longing of an Angel) and performed two theme songs and four singles. Hana also explained that one of the protagonists in Yurin Yurin’s next product will be a tomboy, information that was reiterated at Girls Love Festival 9.

24:53 features the return of the Immigration Bureau, but for the first time, the applicant was denied entry into the Kingdom of Reo.
