Instructions
Get the game first if you don’t already have it: Kissing the petal 3 Join by a hand like a lover. Windows XP users will need to install East Asian language support as well. No further assistance will be provided for these steps. The translated game can also run under Linux using Wine after applying the fix posted here. If you install this patch under Linux, please post a report with your versions of Linux and Wine.
This patcher contains the translated script and graphics. It will work on both the disc and digital versions of both versions of the game. The patcher will autodetect your version of the game and apply the appropriate patches. If your version cannot be autodetected, you will be asked to specify which version you possess. This patcher will overwrite program files directly, so make backups of HANABIRA3.exe, MSD, and MGD if you want to keep the original Japanese files.
It is recommended that you install the game with its own Setup first if possible. If you have administrative rights, the patcher will attempt to autodetect the game’s location in this order:
- Check for HANABIRA3.exe in the directory it was launched in. If the game is found here, it will perform one-click patching and not prompt for any information.
- Check the registry for information left by the game’s own installer. If the path in the registry is valid, you will be asked to move the files from the original Japanese path to an English path (see below).
- If registry information was not found, check C:\Program Files\ふぐり屋\その花びらにくちづけを あなたと恋人つなぎ and C:\Program Files\‚Ó‚®‚艮\‚»‚̉Ԃтç‚É‚‚¿‚¯‚ð@‚ ‚È‚½‚Æ—öl‚‚Ȃ¬ (the default path if the game was installed in an English locale). If HANABIRA3.exe is found in either of these places, you will be asked to move the files.
If the game is not found in any of these locations, the patcher will prompt you to point to the location of HANABIRA3.exe.
AppLocale Workaround
Patches to the EXE included in the patcher allow internal message boxes and the window caption to be displayed in English. As a side effect, you do not need to run the patched game with AppLocale or change your system locale. However, the game files must be in a directory without Japanese characters. If your system locale is non-Japanese, the patcher can move the files automatically (by default into C:\Program Files\Fuguriya\A Kiss For The Petals – Joined In Love With You). This is recommended only if you installed the game normally. You should also move them if the files are located in a path with Japanese characters, but it is not recommended or necessary otherwise. If the game was not installed normally and is in a path with Japanese characters, you should not move them into the default location. Because this workaround is not necessary in a Japanese locale, the option will not be available in that case. This is strictly for convenience and has no effect on the patch itself.
Shortcuts
After patching is finished, the patcher will then look for shortcuts in the Start Menu, Desktop, and Quick Launch and replace them with shortcuts that point to the new path if one was specified. Note that new shortcuts will not be created where they did not exist before and that they will only apply for the current user. The game’s installer places shortcuts in all profiles individually, and the patcher cannot account for these. Information in the registry, if it exists, will also be updated to point to the new path so that the game’s uninstaller will still work. Note that the uninstaller will not remove the new shortcuts. The patcher will not create an uninstaller of its own.
For Users Without Administrative Privileges
All of the above features are available only if you run the patcher as an administrator. If you run the patcher in a limited user profile, it cannot autodetect installations, write to the registry, or create or delete shortcuts. The patch’s contents are otherwise identical. If you can’t or won’t run the patcher as an administrator, download the noadmin build, but only if the normal version does not work.
Playing The Game
The patched game will work with your system file (CONFIG.SAV), so your options and Extra menu data will be preserved. Save files from the original version of the game will work with the remake, but not vice versa.
As in the previous games, if you make any wrong decisions in the branches, the game will prematurely end after the 12th section and you will see the message “Halfway END”. If this is the case, the game will return to the title screen without showing the credits. If you didn’t save often enough, you will need to restart the game from the beginning and make different choices. The Skip function will prove useful in this task.
Notes
In the sixth chapter, a reference is made to 7-Eleven. This is due to the original text containing an irreconcilable series of Japanese puns related to the hyakkin, a type of store that sells all of its products at the price point of 100 yen. An attempt was made to rewrite these number-based puns into English equivalents. See this page for a literal translation of the text. It is recommended that you read this after reaching the exchange in the game.
The title was chosen based on two factors:
- To keep with the tradition set by the first translation, the main title “A Kiss For The Petals” was retained.
- On this game’s VNDB.org entry, the English subtitle “Joined In Love With You” was provided when the page was created. The entry predates any known translations of this game, English or otherwise, and so was chosen for this translation.
If possible, please buy the original game if you did not already. At writing, the retail price on English DLsite is ¥1,785, equivalent to approximately $22 USD/€16 EUR/£14 GBP. If you want to donate, please direct it to the developers instead by buying their products. I know a lot of people won’t even if I ask, but it’s worth a try to increase sales along with exposure.
I encourage all translators with an interest in this series to contact me if they want to try their hand at patching. I will assist in any way I can. I’m particularly interested in the light novels and drama CDs (especially the fourth one, which I currently can’t obtain legitimately or otherwise). Just make sure you can keep up with the strenuous pace that a full translation demands. If you’ve never done a translation for a visual novel before, it can and will take much longer than you think it will.

It’s not. Try disabling your antivirus temporarily and reinstalling the patch. When you do, you’ll be asked what version of the game you have.

I have a little suggestion. Seeing how St. Micheal Academy’s students are all girls, some lines should be changed to ‘Hey girls’ or ‘You girls’ in place of ‘guys’. Probably this is just my picky nature acting up though

Is anyone else getting a funny glitch where every 30-45 seconds the window loses focus and the audio skips for maybe about half a second and voice playing stops?

This is a problem with them running under Windows 7, I’m guessing something to do with Aero. Luckily it’s easy to fix; just right-click on the exe and go to Properties–>Compatibility and set the game to run as any Windows XP type. After that it’ll run fine, tho everytime you start the game up windows will ask for confirmation that you really want

Her voice actress’s name was assumed to be as you said, but I’ve found it to be incorrect through the ongoing radio show on Fuguriya’s website. I’ll release a corrected patch later tonight. Thank you for finding the mistake.

I’ve been wondering about this: Is the game on DLSite the remake or the original? If possible I’d like to get the remake, but the site doesn’t seem to mention anything specific.
I’m not sure. I assume from the new header image on that page that it’s the remake, but I can’t confirm the version changed as well. The date on it still reads 7 August 2007, the release date of the original on DLSite. I’ll need someone else to confirm it.
If you got your game from DLSite, check the date modified on your BGM file. If it reads 28 July 2010, it’s the remake. If it’s 12 July 2007, it’s the original.
Most likely it’s the remake one. Since
-Dlsite doesnt sell the original one anymore (same goes for japanese dlsite)
-The product code for the remake in JP is the same as in ENG, as well as the bytesize http://maniax.dlsite.com/work/=/product_id/RJ032879.html

The remake has some backgrounds and music from the games that came after the original release. The text had some corrections as well; the translation was based on the remake script. Both versions get patched with the same translation.

The omake folder comes with the disc version. It’s not used in the game.

How come I can’t play it in full screen? Whenever I do, my screen just shows a bunch of rainbow like colors
Fullscreen works fine for me. I don’t like to use it though because the game is supposed to be displayed in a 4:3 aspect ratio but fullscreen seems to stretch it out to 16:9 and everything looks too wide…

Are you talking about the patch? If you downloaded the game, use a program like 7-Zip to open the archive, then run Setup.exe.

Can’t get it to work on mine. Everytime i click the download link it just pauses then i force it to download the file by pressing “Retry” but after that i can’t find it anywhere in my download file. Kinda stumped. anyone know the problem?

Now I only wish you, or whoever is actually translating these, would pick up the games in between. Especially fifth one since if I understood correctly, the fifth game stars at least Reo that was in this game. Gotta love Reo … so cute.
Oh and forgot to ask .. Are there any other visual novels that have Yuri in them that are worth of playing ? That is, those that are translated in English.
Sadly, there are no other translated yuri visual novels other than the Sono Hanabira ones… The only other yuri VN I can think of is Dual Phase Soukakurou and it only has h-scenes (despite it containing yuri twincest I don’t recommened it..)
There’s also Aoishiro but it’s only Shouji Ai and not full blown yuri.
I’m just a bystander, I think they’re going to translate all the new couples before translating the sequels for couples. Though I also want to see more Reo.
Please be more careful of sentences like this:

Interrogative sub-clauses have the same sentence order as regular sentences and not as questions:

The patch has been updated to version 2.1.
When i run the patch installer it says to look for the source of the file: HANABIRA3.exe. when i installed the original i had to run HANA10.EXE. sooo does that mean i have the patch for the wrong game?
HANA10.exe is Lily Platinum, an entirely different program.
When I open the unpatched game, it works fine, but when I patch it, somewhere during the patching AVG (my antivirus software) detects a “serious Adware/Spyware threat. It always seems to be in the same spot, and after I tell it to remove the file, my game won’t open, citing a runtime error. Is this because I likely removed one of the patch files, and also, there’s no viruses in this patch, right? ^^;
Your anti-virus software is falsely detecting the integrated ArcTool as a virus. Without it, the graphics cannot be patched. Disable the anti-virus until patching is finished, then enable it afterward.

Your anti-virus software is showing a false positive on the patcher. The easiest way to apply the patch is to download it to the same folder the game files are stored in and run it from there.

You will need East Asian language support if you are running Windows XP or an older OS.

Download the normal version first and install it with its default settings. Follow the instructions given by the patcher. If you are unable to do so, try again with the noadmin version. Both are identical in content.
when I try downloading the english patch it doesn’t work even if i always try again. it says that you have to choose the folder where the original files are located but when i always press the original folder it won’t work. what should i do?
If the patch is failing to detect your installation, you may either be using the wrong patch or HANABIRA3.exe is misnamed. The patcher looks for HANABIRA3.exe and will not continue if it is not found.

Ensure that your operating system supports Japanese characters in file paths. If it does not, install East Asian language support or move the program files to a folder with no Japanese characters in its path.
Contrary to what the post says, I still need to use AppLocale, otherwise I get boxes instead of English text.
