Xenocross Volume 1 [Updated 17 Jan 2012]

[Update 12 November 2011: Music Box of Memories is now available in Spanish.]
[Update 16 November 2011: The subscription option for Eden of Xeno has been cancelled. In its place, two new bundles have been released on Eden of Xeno: One containing only the first five volumes of Music Box of Memories in English and Japanese and one containing volumes 2-5 of Xenocross in English. These packages will be updated with new content as they become available at no extra charge.]
[Update 17 January 2012: A translation of the light novel Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Futari no Christmas has been added to volume 1 at no additional charge. See this post for more information.]

Xenocross Volume 1 is now available for purchase. The price is 888 JPY, approximately $12 USD/€8 EUR/£7 GBP, not including currency conversion fees.

Xenocross features a manga story based on Fuguriya’s yuri doujin series Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo, entitled Music Box of Memories, written by Tomino Nakiyoshi and illustrated by Amano Miki (also known as Asagi Ryu).

Film director Lee Mei Ling, a graduate of St. Michael’s School For Girls, has returned to her alma mater to begin her latest film. She has selected ten familiar young women from the school–nine students and one teacher–to star in the movie. However, the director’s vision appears to be one of calamity. What does the mysterious Mei Ling have in store for the girls of Sonohana?

Purchase Xenocross in:

The Eden of Xeno website is still under construction, but it is functional enough to allow purchases. Open a reader account by clicking on the “Reader Registration” link at the top of the page. After your account is created, you will use PayPal to complete the purchase; it will show the actual price in your local currency, including currency conversion fees. If you have any problems purchasing or reading, please contact us immediately.

Additionally, each version of Xenocross will be updated with rest of the announced content as it becomes available at no additional charge. Music Box of Memories is currently only available in the English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Indonesian versions. The French version of Xenocross does not contain Music Box of Memories at this time.

Additionally, the English version contains a translation of the light novel Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Futari no Christmas under the name Our Christmas Together, which is referenced in the first chapter of Music Box of Memories. Future light novel translations will be included in later volumes of Xenocross for the benefit of English readers who do not have access to the light novels.  This and future Sonohana light novel translations come at no additional charge and have been authorized by Fuguriya, but they do not include any artwork.

However, due to limitations with Eden of Xeno’s book reader, the visual effect of the pages turning for this light novel is reversed. This is due to Xenocross being defined as having a right-to-left page order and the light novel reading left-to-right. The pages have been arranged so that the page order for normal left-to-right reading is correct, but the all pages view has the pages alternate.

Feel free to discuss this release in the comments, but note that any comments containing spoilers are subject to moderation. For more information on Xenocross, see the initial announcement post.

is it selling the physical book? Do they ship internationally?

  3. Dragon Of HouraI says:

Sweet I’ll be buying this before the end of the week!

  4. Yeah says:

Only the english version is available for sale, right? Might want to note that down. If not, the other language versions seem…… unreliable in the details. Mainly the inconsistent page numbers and etc

  5. I find it quite amazing that you get a whole volume for 10.98 USD. Maybe I’m just really simplistic like that though.

  6. animeshnik100500 says:

ehm, how exactly does that look like? lossless PNG files? lossy?
im concerned about the formats bc i use linux.

  7. ChaozCloud says:

I bought the book but when I try to read all I get is some music and a white screen :(

    • AXYPB says:

Which titles are you having trouble with? What browser, OS, and Flash version are you using?

      • ChaozCloud says:

I bought Xenocross Volume 1 (English) – Complete Book. Every chapter in it is the same (music and blank screen). I’m using Opera, Windows 7 and has Adobe Flash Player 11.

        • AXYPB says:

Have you tried using other browsers?

          • ChaozCloud says:

I tried using Firefox. But nvm, I finally got it to work after reinstalling AFP :D
After reading all the books, I must say that the Hanabira one was the best. It had the best artwork, best translation and best story (I might be a bit biased on the last one though :P ).
Kinda wished I could play Hanabira 7 and 8 to get a little insight on those couples.

  8. fc-12 says:

what about for people that don’t have a credit card? TT_TT

    • AXYPB says:

PayPal also accepts bank transfers as a payment source. PayPal is the only accepted payment method for Eden of Xeno, so if you are unable or unwilling to use it, I’m afraid you will not be able to purchase anything on it.

  9. Wakaranaicchi says:

That was a great chapter! I thought Id be buying a whole volume of just the Sono Hanabira story, but a couple of the other stories were quite interesting as well – I was wondering how those other stories got into the magazine, and if in the future there will be openings for other stories as well?

    • AXYPB says:

Xenocross is composed of stories from professional and amateur Japanese and Taiwanese authors. The Japanese authors were asked by Eden of Xeno to lend their cooperation for Xenocross and directed by its CEO, Tomino Nakiyoshi, in their plots. The Taiwanese authors were recruited from a Chinese yuri forum and led by the same. There will also be new stories in future volumes.

A quick question, its an ebook isnt it? so i download it from the page or receive an email with the details? im rather new at this so i have a total lack of knowledge.

  12. atua says:

The EoX site needs to give you an option to turn off the damn music while you’re reading the manga. Actually, the flash manga reader application is very clunky in general.

    • AXYPB says:

It is planned for each title to have their own background music. All titles currently share the same music as this feature is unfinished.

  13. Amy says:

The home page it is looks like not finished yet.Where I can find terms of use?T_T

  14. Skarlath says:

I’m having the same problem as ChaozCloud, and i’ve tried updating and downloading the latest versions of adobe reader. I’ve also tried both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, both of the latest versions, and i’m just getting a blank screen and music.

  15. AXYPB says:

Music Box of Memories is now available in Spanish.

  16. Didn’t know there was a bilingual compilation for the series. Will have to pick that up sometime. Saves myself some money, lol.

  17. Ichigo69 says:

Okay, question, what happens if I got the wrong language… How do I swap it?
