This translation is a special case. It was through an announcement of a translation of this visual novel that I discovered that the fan community for this series was much larger than I thought. For their sake, I sought to have translations of several more entries in this series completed along the way. Although there is ambivalence toward the subject matter of this visual novel, there is nonetheless great demand to make its potentially contentious story and characters known. Now, nearly two years after it began, it is time for this project to come full circle. It is my hope that this translation release will reveal the capability of this series to carry a plot as more than a secondary goal.

An unofficial English translation patch for Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo – Amakute Hoshikute Torokeru Chuu (その花びらにくちづけを あまくてほしくてとろけるちゅう).

Instructions in short: If you installed the game through its own Setup, choose to Open/Run the patcher after downloading and not Save it. Otherwise, download it to the same folder as the game and run it from there. If you can’t or won’t get admin privileges for the patcher, use the noadmin build.
Please do not rehost these files or link directly to them. Link to this page instead. Do not redistribute any prepatched copies of the game.

Version 1.1 contains script corrections. If you already have version 1, download one of the MSD only packages above instead.
There is a glitch with the text engine that causes lines containing a heart graphic to clear prematurely if the Auto switch is enabled. The only known workaround is to exclude them entirely. If you want to use Auto and avoid this glitch, choose the No Hearts script type when prompted. You can switch between the Normal and No Hearts versions at any time by running the patcher again; it will not affect your save files.
Be sure to check out the message window mod if you want a smaller text box or no box at all.
Instructions
Get the game first if you don’t already have it: Kissing the Petal: sweet, desirable and melting kiss. Windows XP users will need to install East Asian language support as well. No further assistance will be provided for these steps. The translated game can also run under Linux using Wine after applying the fix posted here. If you install this patch under Linux, please post a report with your versions of Linux and Wine.
This patcher contains the translated script and graphics. It will work on both the disc and digital versions of both versions of the game. This patcher will overwrite program files directly, so make backups of HANA7.exe, MSD, and MGD if you want to keep the original Japanese files.
It is recommended that you install the game with its own Setup first if possible. If you have administrative rights, the patcher will attempt to autodetect the game’s location in this order:
- Check for HANA7.exe in the directory it was launched in. If the game is found here, it will perform one-click patching and not prompt for any information.
- Check the registry for information left by the game’s own installer. If the path in the registry is valid, you will be asked to move the files from the original Japanese path to an English path (see below).
- If registry information was not found, check C:\Program Files\ふぐり屋\その花びらにくちづけを あまくてほしくてとろけるちゅう and C:\Program Files\‚Ó‚®‚艮\‚»‚̉Ԃтç‚É‚‚¿‚¯‚ð@‚ ‚Ü‚‚Ăقµ‚‚ĂƂ낯‚é‚¿‚イ (the default path if the game was installed in an English locale). If HANA7.exe is found in either of these places, you will be asked to move the files.
If the game is not found in any of these locations, the patcher will prompt you to point to the location of HANA7.exe.
AppLocale Workaround
Patches to the EXE included in the patcher allow internal message boxes and the window caption to be displayed in English. As a side effect, you do not need to run the patched game with AppLocale or change your system locale. However, the game files must be in a directory without Japanese characters. If your system locale is non-Japanese, the patcher can move the files automatically (by default into C:\Program Files\Fuguriya\A Kiss For The Petals – Sweet Enchanting Kisses). This is recommended only if you installed the game normally. You should also move them if the files are located in a path with Japanese characters, but it is not recommended or necessary otherwise. If the game was not installed normally and is in a path with Japanese characters, you should not move them into the default location. Because this workaround is not necessary in a Japanese locale, the option will not be available in that case. This is strictly for convenience and has no effect on the patch itself.
Shortcuts
After patching is finished, the patcher will then look for shortcuts in the Start Menu, Desktop, and Quick Launch and replace them with shortcuts that point to the new path if one was specified. Note that new shortcuts will not be created where they did not exist before and that they will only apply for the current user. The game’s installer places shortcuts in all profiles individually, and the patcher cannot account for these. Information in the registry, if it exists, will also be updated to point to the new path so that the game’s uninstaller will still work. Note that the uninstaller will not remove the new shortcuts. The patcher will not create an uninstaller of its own.
For Users Without Administrative Privileges
All of the above features are available only if you run the patcher as an administrator. If you run the patcher in a limited user profile, it cannot autodetect installations, write to the registry, or create or delete shortcuts. The patch’s contents are otherwise identical. If you can’t or won’t run the patcher as an administrator, download the noadmin build, but only if the normal version does not work.
Playing The Game
The patched game will work with your system file (CONFIG.SAV), so your options and Extra menu data will be preserved.
As in the previous games, if you make any wrong decisions in the branches, the game will prematurely end after the 15th section and you will see the message “Halfway END”. If this is the case, the game will return to the title screen without showing the credits. If you didn’t save often enough, you will need to restart the game from the beginning and make different choices. The Skip function will prove useful in this task.
Notes
The original script states in a non-spoken line that St. Michael’s School For Girls was founded in the early Meiji period. This has since been retconned in subsequent releases and on Fuguriya’s FAQ page as having been built in the early Taishou period, which coincides with the prominence of Catholic schools in Japan. The translation has been altered to reflect this.
The subtitle can be literally translated to “A lovely sweet kiss of desire”. A liberty was taken for the sake of readability.
Hanabira-Kun transferred this project to AXYPB World this August. This patch consists of their translation with further editing from me and verification from @fkeroge and yeah321.
If possible, please buy the original game if you did not already. At writing, the retail price on English DLsite is ¥1,785, equivalent to approximately $22 USD/€16 EUR/£14 GBP. If you want to donate, please direct it to the developers instead by buying their products. I know a lot of people won’t even if I ask, but it’s worth a try to increase sales along with exposure.
I encourage all translators with an interest in this series to contact me if they want to try their hand at patching. I will assist in any way I can. I’m particularly interested in the light novels and drama CDs (especially the fourth one, which I currently can’t obtain legitimately or otherwise). Just make sure you can keep up with the strenuous pace that a full translation demands. If you’ve never done a translation for a visual novel before, it can and will take much longer than you think it will.
If you have any comments or suggestions, even if it is to report the smallest error, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Ah you know, the usual thanks are in order to both the team and yourself on this translation. Now it all depends on when my review of this game will come out. College is a necessary evil.

Wowwwww thanks very much
Thank you very much for your work~!
There seems to be an untranslated/undeleted line in the following screen: http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x467/Shadolo/TL.png
Thank you for the report. This will be corrected in the next update.
thanks very muchh !!
The talk of this being “contentious” cracks me up. Of all the horrific shit that goes down in eroge, there is pretty much nothing Sonohana could do that should warrant controversy. Oh no, a fictional teacher and student… big deal. I am going to play (read) the hell out of this VN and love every second of it. <3
Oh and just in case it wasn’t clear, the team are all gods for doing this. The disdain for the “controversy” isn’t disdain for you all.
It should be noted that the potential for controversy is never acknowledged by Fuguriya themselves, the characters, or any Japanese fan communities to my knowledge. This story began in September 2007 with the web serial and was not thematically different from this visual novel in any way.
wait… so, uh, what happened to Hana 6? You’re just not going to randomly skip it, are you?
This patch was already being worked on by others, so it would make sense to just finish something that’s already has resources set up for it. I’m confident that the Hana 6 will get a translation, just give it sometime.
As noted above, this project was publicly announced 20 months ago. We were simply entrusted to complete what was a mostly finished script, albeit a rough draft of one, at the time it was transferred to us.
Thanks a lot for all this work.
Thank you!
I need some help. The game runs fine, but every few seconds the program skips, like some background program is opening and closing so it interferes with the flow. It is annoying. Any idea what is causing it?
Set the game to run on Windows XP compatibility mode. That should fix it.
Thanks!
Is Runa an elementary or junior high school student? Can’t remember.
Its an elementary school- says at one point its a 6th grade class – which in Japan is last year of Elementary school – making Runa either 11 or 12 – I’d guess 11 since it says its a month since Takako started teaching – which presumably was at the start of the year.

Thanks for your hard work!
@EvilDevil – I had that problem before, I think I ran the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3 to fix it.

Ah,
First off, thank you so much for getting this out to us all.
Second, I know this isn’t your place but, the game won’t run outside of sub-hd lettterbox format.
It’s a square about 5 x 5 inches on my 16 inch monitor ( 1080p ) are there any immediate solutions available to me?
Either your monitor or your graphics card is not correcting your aspect ratio. Check that your resolution is set to the highest available for your display.

The patch has been updated to version 1.1.
The version 1.1 patch has been replaced with a more recent MSD. If you downloaded 1.1 before this comment, please redownload it.
Many thanks for this
Having finished it now, I can say I thought it was the best in the series – both the sweetest, and most erotic – also I loved both Voice actresses- they did a great job, and I loved the characters
I don’t have any problem with Runa’s age in this instance because she is clearly the one in charge lol
I don’t know anything about the series beyond 7 – did they do or are planning to do a follow on part for these 2 characters like they have for alot of the others? Anyone know?
Thanks to the AXYPB team for patching this game
this is definitely my least favorite couple. I admit that I am not as excited for this patch as I was previous ones, but I am thankful that people keep working on translating this series
A great thanks to everyone who worked on this project! Words cannot describe my appreciation towards you all for translating this series.
This VN actually went beyond my expectations. There was surprising more substance for the plot than I would’ve ever thought. Also, I really love Runa~
It really warms my heart to see this patch finally released! I have some personal feelings especially for this game that extends beyond an appreciation for the adorable characters and story. So yea, thank you so much AXYPB, @fkeroge, Bonku, Proger_XP, Tsukimori, and yeah321! You guys are wonderful. ^ ^
I’d like to reiterate that your posting on this visual novel made all of our releases possible. Thank you again for your continued inspiration. I look forward to your revised analysis of this couple.
How do you get farther that the “HALFWAY END”? As in, what choices must I make?
Consider the choices most likely to improve the relationship, as in a dating sim. Use the Skip function and the multiple save files to help with this.
Oh! I can’t believe that I gaped that. It was so obvious. Yeah, I’m slow sometimes. T^T lol
Thanks!!

Roger!
First I would like to thank you for this amazing work of yours really appreciated.
I would like to know which is the software tools used in the translation of Sono Hanabira, I do not know japanese (yet), but I do know english (my native language is spanish) and I’d would love to translate the games to spanish, there are thousands of yuri fans looking for the translation and it is not there. I’d love to translate your work to spanish, obviously mentioning your work and help and thanking you. But I do not know which software to use, I tried with an Hex editor but it just didn’y work right. Previously I have helped in the translation of mangas from english to spanish in a fansub called Michiru. So I kind of have expirience translating.
I really would appreciate your help and advice. Thanks again.
