Where Should I Start with A Kiss For The Petals? (Updated 25 December 2015)

Fuguriya posted this guide to the couples of A Kiss For The Petals on 15 December 2012, apparently in response to confusion resulting from the large number of products available and their uneven chronological order. It has been translated by Ralen.

See the Buying Guide for options to purchase titles listed below. Some light novels have been translated into English. Highlighted titles link to translated information pages where available, and the original announcements otherwise.

On 19 December 2015, it was updated with the three couples of The New Generation and new entries since its previous version on 21 December 2013. The new entries were translated by Ralen on 22 December 2015.

Where Should I Start with
A Kiss For The Petals?

I just recently heard about Fuguriya, but where should I start with A Kiss For The Petals?

I’ve looked at the Product Reference page, but it’s hard to figure out with so many things listed…(´・ω・`)

We’ve been receiving lots of inquiries like this lately, so we’ve tried to organize things in a way that’s a little easier to understand.

In the Fuguriya series, A Kiss For The Petals, there are 14 pairs of lovers, for a total of 28 people, each appearing in 1-3 games.

Each couple’s games occur in sequential order, and we recommend they be played in the order outlined below; however, as far as which couple you should start with, that’s a matter of personal preference, so pick whichever one you like best.

There are also a number of drama CDs and short stories that center around the basic story from the games, so we recommend you play the games first.

C2“Well then, let’s introduce you to the couples♪”

01
1. Oda Nanami and Matsubara Yuuna

The couple from Fuguriya’s very first work.
Unless you’re particularly interested in one of the other couples, we recommend you start with this one.

The story of the energetic young Nanami, who idolizes the campus Madonna, Yuuna, as her “Onee-sama.” In fact, she’s constantly being subjected to this “dirty girl” Yuuna’s sexual advances, but the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their first game is A Kiss For The Petals (Commonly referred to as No-name)
followed by the sequel, Whisper With a Kiss.

Their first drama CD is Eternal Blissful Kiss.
Their second drama CD is Dream-like Days.

Their short story is Our Valentine’s Together, which is included in the compilation Extras Roundup 2.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

02

2. Kitajima Kaede and Kitajima Sara

The couple comprised of two cousins; one a bespectacled class representative with her hair in a braid, and the other a student and model.

The story of Kaede, who doesn’t like to stand out in a crowd, but is actually quite stunning when she takes off her glasses and lets down her hair.  However, she’s always at the mercy of the sexual advances of her younger cousin Sara, a model… but the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their first game is My Prince Charming
followed by the sequel, Photograph of Affection.

Their first drama CD is Kaede-chan in Super Mode.
Their second drama CD is Kaede-chan’s Newlywed Cooking.
Their third drama CD is The Spoiled Princess and the Snow Prince.

Their short story is The Curtain Call Never Ends, which is also included in the compilation Extras Roundup 2.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

03

3. Sawaguchi Mai and Kawamura Reo

This exceptionally popular couple has been made into an adult anime, and has launched a web radio show.

At first glance, Reo looks small and adorable, but she’s actually hyper-tsundere, with a fear of strangers. Their story has the meddlesome Mai fighting with Reo, caring for Reo, and pushing Reo to the ground, but the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their first game is Joined in Love with You
followed by the sequel, The Joy of Loving You.

Their first drama CD is Eternal Summer with You.
Their second drama CD is Diary of a Live-in Girlfriend.
Their third drama CD is Reo’s Days of Decadent Reward.
Their fourth drama CD is Dark-haired Lovers.
Their fifth drama CD is Christmas, Three Days Late.

Their short story is Kiss Me One More Time, which is included in the compilation Extras Roundup 2.
There’s also Seize the Summer!

Also, volume 2 and volume 3 of Reo-ppoi Radio, the show hosted by the voice of Reo, are now available.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

04

4. Houraisen Runa and Suminoe Takako

The student/teacher couple, with a big age gap.

The story of Takako-sensei (baby-faced and busty), a teacher at Saint Michael’s Academy for Girls and homeroom teacher for the year 6 “Snow” class, who is in love with a student who happens to be a sadistic queen.  And while Runa may abuse her and push her to the ground, the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their first game is Sweet Melting Kisses,
followed by the sequel, Sweet Grown-up Kisses.

Their drama CD is My Darling Lover.

Their first short story is Enchanting Kisses on a Tropical Island!
Their second short story is Crossing the Finish Line Together.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

05

5. Shitogi Eris and Kirishima Shizuku

A couple comprised of a yamato nadeshiko in a black bob cut, and a platinum blonde exchange student.

The story of Shizuku, a yamato nadeshiko who looks lovely in a kimono, and is dumbfounded that her lover Eris is so popular among their fellow students.  But Eris herself attracts girls to her in droves without even realizing it.  She gets Shizuku angry at her, but then they have make-up sex, and the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their first game is Dyed with Angelic Petals
followed by the sequel, Lily Platinum
and the additional sequel, My Sworn Love for You.

Their first drama CD is Our Life on Campus.

Their first short story is Valentine’s Fever.
Their second short story is Bathed in Warmth.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

06

6. Azumi Risa and Ayase Miya

The couple that made their debut in the Fuguriya commercial brand,Yurin Yurin‘s production, Maidens of Michael.

The story of the serious class representative Risa, and the thorn in her side, girl genius Miya, a classmate who is constantly skipping class.  Despite that, she and Miya are selected as the school’s best couple, so now they’re going out for real?!  And the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

In the commercial game Maidens of Michael, all five couples above make an appearance, practically making it a third game for each couple. In essence, you could call this a Fuguriya compilation, featuring all of the couples from the previous doujin works, along with a brand new couple.

Also, until Maidens of Michael diverges into the roots of the other couples, it’s essentially told from Risa’s point of view, so it’s possible to enjoy it, even if you haven’t played the earlier games. Although, if possible, we think you’ll enjoy it even more if you play the other games first.

There is also a sequel to Maidens of Michael called Lovers of the Atelier.

Their first drama CD is A Cozy Spring Vacation.
Their second drama CD is Risa’s Golden Vacation.
Their third drama CD is Our Private Morning Straight from a Movie.

There is also a sequel in the form of a short story titled Spring Splash.

Risa and Miya also try their hand at a cycling diet in Yuricycle, which also features Mai and Reo, and Sayuki and Rikka.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

07

   7. Shirakawa Sayuki and Shinozaki Rikka

The couple that made their debut in the commercial release, Snow White’s Knight.

Rikka and Sayuki are selected as one of the academy’s best couples, but when they’re introduced to their senior classmates, for some reason Rikka embraces Risa!  Could we have a love quadrangle on our hands!? The whole school is up in arms! But then the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

This work is a follow-up to the commercial game Maidens of Michael.
Just as in Maidens of Michael, until the story diverges into the other couples’ routes, it’s primarily told from Risa’s point of view, so we recommend you play this after Maidens of Michael.

The other couples make an appearance in this work as well.  As usual, they show off how mushy and lovey-dovey they are with one another. (Routes for Takako & Rena, as well as Shizuku & Eris are absent; however, Shizuku and Eris can be found in the companion work, My Sworn Love for You.)

There are also drama CDs that takes place after the game titled Kitten Love as well as My Extraordinary Lover.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

07

8. Hanemura Kaori and Yuuki Amane

The couple from the PG game intended for general audiences.

The story of Kaori and Amane, who are childhood friends, next-door neighbors, and are in the same class at the same school.  Amane always sticks close to Kaori, and Kaori thinks of Amane as more than a friend… and the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Although it takes place at the same school, this world has no connection to the six couples above. Because this title is for general audiences, it can be purchased by those under 18 years of age.

The game is called Hanahira!

This game has also been ported to smart phones in an Android version and an iOS version compatible with iPhone and iPad.

There is also a sequel in the form of a short story called Hanahira Short Story! – Nagisa’s Rowdy Girls.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

09

   9. Aihara Ringo and Takao Chiaki

The couple that made their debut in the commercial release, The Angels’ Longing.

The story of a nursing student at the Senior Nursing School Annex of Saint Michael’s General Hospital, a school associated with St. Michael’s. The logo is in blue, so it is sometimes referred to as the “Blue Label” series. These two also appear as side characters in The Angels’ Spring Romance and The Angels’ Promise.

Upon graduating from St. Michael’s, Ringo begins nursing school in the spring, moving in with her cousin Chiaki, whom she longs to be like. As it turns out, Chiaki takes rather poor care of herself, and is extremely physical with her affection.  Ringo has trouble reconciling this gap in her personality… But of course the story ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their story is also continued in the drama CD, The Season of Hydrangeas.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

10

   10. Ishigami Satsuki and Katakura Yuuno

These characters become a couple in the commercial release, The Angels’ Spring Romance.

Likewise, this story revolves around students at the Senior Nursing School Annex of Saint Michael’s General Hospital, and these two appear as side characters in The Angels’ Longing and The Angels’ Promise.

These characters become a couple in the commercial release, The Angels’ Promise.

Likewise, this story revolves around students at the Senior Nursing School Annex of Saint Michael’s General Hospital, and these two appear as side characters in The Angels’ Longing and The Angels’ Spring Romance.

Upon entering nursing school, Akira is somehow always finding herself being provoked into fights with Narumi, but Narumi, who’s used to this kind of thing, might actually be starting to enjoy these arguments with Akira… And of course, this story also ultimately ends up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

Their story is also continued in the drama CD, The Angels’ Date Night.

12

12. Misawa Nagisa and Takahata Rina

A couple that made their debut in the commercial release, The New Generation!

The story features the students of the Saint Michael Girls’ School Annex, an affiliate school of St. Michael’s, and takes place a little after Snow White’s Knight.

Nagisa, who is on the annex school’s track and field team, is an overly-serious girl who doesn’t like to draw attention to herself. Nevertheless, her childhood friend Rina is a glamorous beauty who draws attention to both of them… And of course, they ultimately end up becoming mushy and lovey-dovey lovers.

There is also a sequel game called Revolution! – Rinagisa.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

13
13. Kimishima Aya and Kimishima Ai

A couple that made their debut in the commercial release, The New Generation!

The story features the students of the Saint Michael Girls’ School Annex, an affiliate school of St. Michael’s, and takes place a little after Snow White’s Knight.
These two also appear as side characters in Revolution! – Rinagisa.

Due to various circumstances, Aya was raised by a different family, and they’ve only been living together for the past six months. However, her elder twin sister Ai is excessively protective of her, and ends up coming across as overbearing… But of course, things ultimately end up being all mushy and lovey-dovey.

There is also a sequel drama CD called Happiness☆Sweets.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

14

14. Onohara Hazuki and Suou Manami

A couple that made their debut in the commercial release, The New Generation!

The story features the students of the Saint Michael Girls’ School Annex, an affiliate school of St. Michael’s, and takes place a little after Snow White’s Knight.
These two also appear as side characters in Revolution! – Rinagisa.

Hazuki, a transfer student, falls in love with Manami, the refined young lady in the seat next to her. Hazuki begs with all her might for Manami to be part of a Best Couple with her… And of course, the story ultimately ends up with them becoming a mushy and lovey-dovey couple.

We recommend you play these in the above order.

We went through all that pretty fast, but was it at least informative?
Well, we hope you’ll continue to enjoy Fuguriya and Yurin Yurin products in the future~

  1. it’s so sad that koharu and makoto didn’t get mentioned at all 🙁
i’m kind of surprised shirayuki starts out with risa as the protagonist; i thought for sure it would be rikka.

  2. Couple 11. I’m glad different colors for the eyes is used. It was getting confusing as certain couples (Maidens of St. Michael’s) felt like colors for hair and eyes and facial features were recycled.

Only way to distinguish (barely) is the hairstyle and hair accessories.
Thank you for this information/guide of the Sono Hanabira’s series and looking forward to watch these videos and games.
